WHAT IS IYENGAR YOGA?
The unique approach of Iyengar Yoga places emphasis on detailed instructions, corrections, and use of props (blocks, blankets, belts) to achieve precise alignment of yoga poses (asanas) which trains muscle pairs to work evenly and to correct imbalances. Greater flexibility and strength are achieved simultaneously, allowing to progress into asanas of higher level of difficulty and to realize their profound health benefits.
Classes include step-by-step instructions to classic asanas, breathing techniques, restorative poses, and relaxation. The use of props allows persons of limited fitness levels to do a greater variety of asanas and enjoy their benefits. Props also help to achieve profound levels of relaxation for quiet reflection and release of habitual tensions produced by busy life styles. ___________________________________________________________
